The United States has approved military helicopter sales worth more than $4 billion to South Korea as part of ongoing defense cooperation between Washington and Seoul. The package includes 24 MH-60R Seahawk naval helicopters valued at $3 billion and $1.2 billion in upgrades for South Korea’s Apache attack helicopter fleet. The Seahawk helicopters are designed for anti-submarine warfare and maritime strike missions, while the Apache upgrades will improve combat effectiveness and operational readiness. The deal reflects South Korea’s broader commitment to expanding defense purchases from the US in response to growing regional security threats.
