Croatia has entered into a multinational framework agreement with Czech manufacturer Tatra to procure T-815 military trucks, allowing the Croatian Armed Forces to order up to 420 vehicles in 6×6 and 8×8 configurations.

The move follows Slovakia’s earlier participation in the framework, which Tatra says highlights growing alliance-wide interest in the company’s proven vehicle technology. According to Tatra, the joint contract enhances international cooperation in defense technology, streamlines the procurement of military vehicles, and supports the long-term export growth of the Czech defense industry.

Tatra confirmed the framework agreement with Zagreb in mid-December, covering T-815 trucks in 4×4, 6×6, and 8×8 variants across 24 different configurations. A separate but related agreement establishes a long-term procurement pathway for the Slovak Armed Forces, allowing vehicle orders to be placed based on evolving operational requirements.

The framework sets a total ceiling value of €1.03 billion ($1.1 billion), excluding value-added tax, for orders placed over the life of the initiative.

Also known as the T-815-7, T-817, or Tatra Force, the T-815 military truck is derived from Tatra’s long-standing commercial platform introduced in the 1980s. The military variant entered production in 2007 and has since been manufactured in configurations ranging from 4×4 to 10×10 for international customers.

The robust chassis supports a wide range of roles beyond logistics, including armored personnel carriers, mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles, self-propelled artillery, and rocket systems. The Tatra Force measures 9 meters in length, weighs approximately 13.3 metric tons, and carries 420 liters of fuel. It is powered by a Tatra T3C-928-90 V8 air-cooled turbocharged engine, producing around 400 horsepower, enabling a top speed of 115 km/h and an operational range of 750 km.
