Rheinmetall has entered into an agreement with Hellenic Vehicles Industries (ELVO) to assemble military trucks in Greece, strengthening the country’s domestic defense manufacturing capabilities.

Under the memorandum of understanding, both companies will cooperate on the production and integration of logistics vehicles and specialized military platforms for the Hellenic Armed Forces.

Manufacturing activities will be focused at ELVO’s Thessaloniki facility, where production lines are expected to be expanded to support truck assembly for the Greek Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The partnership also includes the integration of advanced mission modules and superstructures, including vehicle-mounted air defense systems.

Rheinmetall contributes a broad portfolio of tactical and logistics vehicles ranging from 4×4 to 10×10 configurations optimized for high-mobility and off-road operations. Combined with ELVO’s domestic production infrastructure, the collaboration is expected to reduce Greece’s dependence on foreign imports while strengthening its local defense industry.

In addition to boosting military capability, the project is anticipated to create skilled employment opportunities and reinforce the regional defense supply chain in northern Greece.

The agreement is part of Rheinmetall’s wider partnership expansion strategy in 2026 aimed at increasing production capacity and establishing stronger industrial footprints near customer markets.

In March, Rheinmetall partnered with Indra to pursue a multibillion-euro Spanish Army truck program that could involve up to 3,000 military trucks and additional tactical vehicles.

During the same month, Rheinmetall and Boeing Defence Australia announced cooperation to offer the MQ-28 Ghost Bat drone to Germany.

Earlier in January, Rheinmetall Expal Munitions joined forces with EM&E Group to submit a proposal for Spain’s SILAM high-mobility rocket launcher initiative.
