The US Army has activated the 7th Infantry Division Multi-Domain Command-Pacific (7th ID MDC-PAC), merging the 7th Infantry Division and the 1st Multi-Domain Task Force into a theater-level organization dedicated to operations in the Indo-Pacific region.
The transition was formally recognized at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, through a ceremonial casing and uncasing of unit colors. The newly formed command brings together conventional ground combat units with capabilities in cyber operations, space, electronic warfare, intelligence, and autonomous systems under a unified headquarters.
With a strength of approximately 12,000 personnel, the formation is set to support regional missions, strengthen Pacific deterrence efforts, and participate in future joint and multinational exercises throughout the Indo-Pacific.
