Navantia has entered into an agreement with Naval Shipyards General Directorate to provide lifecycle maintenance and technical support for the amphibious assault ship TCG Anadolu. The contract establishes a three-year framework, extendable by an additional three years, covering maintenance and repair services, remote and on-site technical assistance, documentation updates, and specialized training.
Support will be delivered through a flexible request-based model, enabling the Turkish Navy to access services in line with operational requirements.
Constructed in Turkey with design and engineering input from Navantia, TCG Anadolu is based on the Spanish Juan Carlos I platform. The vessel was built at the SEDEF shipyard and incorporates key systems supplied by Navantia, including diesel generator sets and an integrated platform control system.
Since entering service, TCG Anadolu has undergone continuous upgrades as part of Turkey’s broader push to enhance its amphibious capabilities and integrate unmanned aviation. Turkish firm Baykar has confirmed the successful integration and testing of TB3 naval drones on the vessel, signaling its transition toward a hybrid role as both an amphibious platform and a drone carrier.
Meanwhile, Turkish Aerospace Industries is progressing development of the Kızılelma unmanned combat aircraft, designed for carrier-based operations and aligned with Anadolu’s evolving role in projecting unmanned air power.
