EDGE and Baykar have signed an agreement to integrate Al Tariq precision-guided munitions with the Bayraktar Akinci combat drone.
The deal formalizes technical cooperation between the two companies to adapt EDGE’s Al Tariq smart weapon family for deployment from the Akinci unmanned aerial platform. Under the agreement, Baykar will support integration activities and demonstration trials to ensure compatibility across multiple operational scenarios, including day and night missions.
The Al Tariq family is designed for long-range precision strikes in diverse weather conditions. Its integration with the Akinci reflects the broader trend in unmanned combat aviation toward combining advanced drone platforms with flexible precision-guided weapons.
In addition to the integration agreement, both firms also signed a separate commercial cooperation framework enabling each company to market and offer the other’s systems to customers.
The partnership comes amid growing collaboration across the unmanned combat aircraft sector, where companies are increasingly combining expertise in platforms, autonomy technologies, and precision weapon systems.
In December 2025, Saab and Airbus disclosed discussions on cooperation in unmanned combat aircraft technologies intended to operate alongside crewed fighter jets. Earlier, in September 2025, Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems announced a strategic partnership focused on the joint development of autonomous uncrewed aerial systems.
