Indra will equip six additional Type 212CD submarines with its electronic warfare and radar systems under a new agreement with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace. This expands on an earlier contract in which Indra is already supplying the same fully digital EW suite and advanced radar technology for the first six submarines ordered by Germany and Norway, bringing the total to 12 platforms.

The Type 212CD is a next-generation conventional submarine featuring air-independent propulsion, designed to operate in the North Atlantic and ensure high interoperability with NATO forces.

Germany and Norway initiated the joint procurement program in 2021, initially covering four submarines for Norway and two for Germany. Norway added two more in early 2026, while Germany approved an additional four in 2024, raising the total fleet to 12. Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems serves as the prime contractor for the program.

Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace leads the industrial consortium alongside TKMS and Atlas Elektronik to develop the ORCCA combat management system, integrating Indra’s technologies for enhanced operational performance. Additionally, HENSOLDT is supplying OMS 150 and OMS 300 optronic mast systems, offering non-hull-penetrating sensor capabilities.
