Germany-based ARX Robotics has secured a contract to deliver its GEREON uncrewed ground vehicles (UGVs) to the British Army, marking a step toward integrating robotic and autonomous systems into frontline land operations. The platforms will be deployed alongside army units to evaluate their performance and compatibility within existing force structures, supporting broader modernization efforts aligned with the UK’s defense industrial strategy.

GEREON is a medium-class UGV designed for both military and civilian applications, capable of operating in either manual or autonomous modes. It is intended to perform a variety of missions, including logistics support, casualty evacuation, and surveillance. The system offers a payload capacity of up to 500 kilograms, enabling it to transport equipment and supplies in challenging field environments.

Technically, the platform delivers an operational range of up to 40 kilometers and a control range of approximately 4 kilometers. It is equipped with thermal imaging and night vision systems, allowing effective operation in low-visibility conditions. Designed for all-terrain mobility, GEREON can be rapidly deployed, with a charging time of around 2.5 hours and an endurance of up to 72 hours depending on mission requirements.

Built on a modular architecture, the vehicle can integrate different payloads and attachments, enabling rapid adaptation to diverse operational roles without requiring structural modifications to the base system.
