The Indonesian Navy has taken delivery of its second Brawijaya-class offshore patrol vessel from Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. The ship, named KRI Prabu Siliwangi (321), is part of a 2023 arrangement that allowed Jakarta to acquire systems originally intended for the Italian Navy’s OPV program.
Currently stationed in Lampung province, the vessel is undergoing final outfitting ahead of its planned commissioning in late March. It joins KRI Brawijaya (320), delivered in 2025, and is based on Italy’s Thaon di Revel-class design, making it one of Indonesia’s most advanced naval platforms.
Measuring 143 meters in length with a 17-meter beam, the ship accommodates up to 120 personnel and features a double hangar with a dedicated flight deck. It is powered by a combined propulsion system including a gas turbine, diesel engines, generators, and electric motors. The vessel is equipped with advanced weaponry such as electronic warfare systems, decoy launchers, a 127 mm main gun, 76 mm air defence guns, 25 mm cannons, and a vertical launch system capable of carrying up to 16 missiles. With speeds exceeding 50 km/h and a range of 5,000 nautical miles, it offers significant operational reach.
