Morocco has ordered 10 H225M helicopters from Airbus Helicopters for the Royal Moroccan Air Force’s combat search and rescue missions. The deal includes a support and service package, though pricing and delivery details were not revealed.
The new fleet will replace aging Puma helicopters and will feature double hoists, searchlights, and Safran Euroflir 410 electro-optical systems. Each aircraft will also be fitted with machine guns and an electronic warfare self-protection suite.
Designed for versatility, the H225M supports combat search and rescue, special operations, tactical transport, and medical evacuation. Powered by twin Safran Makila 2A1 engines, it reaches speeds up to 324 km/h and cruises at 262 km/h. It can operate from both ships and land bases, with all-weather and night-vision capability.
The helicopter offers a 920-km range with standard fuel, extendable to 1,253 km with auxiliary tanks, and can stay airborne for 4.5 hours. It accommodates 31 personnel and has a maximum takeoff weight of 11,000 kg, or 11,200 kg with an external load.
