L3Harris has awarded CPI Aerostructures a $13.6 million contract to manufacture airborne pod structures for the US Navy’s Next-Generation Jammer-Low Band (NGJ-LB) program. The award expands on a previously announced undefinitized contract action valued at up to $12.1 million. The NGJ-LB pods are being developed to replace the legacy AN/ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming System carried by the EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft. Under the contract, CPI Aerostructures will provide pod structures supporting L3Harris’ delivery of operational prototypes to the US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) for fleet evaluations, airworthiness testing, and design verification. The NGJ-LB system features a modular open architecture that enables advanced electronic warfare capabilities while simplifying future upgrades. As the prime contractor for the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase, L3Harris is responsible for delivering eight operational prototype pods and four test pods. Since the program’s launch in 2024, CPI Aerostructures has contributed manufacturing design and assembly engineering support and recently delivered its first test article. Honeywell Aerospace also joined the program in 2025 to support NGJ-LB system development.
