The US Navy has taken delivery of its 350th MH‑60R Seahawk helicopter from Lockheed Martin’s Owego, New York, facility, assigning it to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM)-41.
HSM‑41 trains naval aviators and aircrew of the US Pacific Fleet to operate the Seahawk, the Navy’s primary platform for anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare since 2010.
The MH-60R is a multi-role helicopter equipped with an open-architecture avionics suite, advanced sensors, electronic support measures, data links, and weaponry, including AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and MK 54 torpedoes.
Introduced into service in 2006, the aircraft has recently supported maritime security operations in the Gulf of Aden against enemy drones and in the Red Sea against Houthi-armed skiffs.
Produced by Lockheed Martin’s Sikorsky division, the MH-60R is expected to remain operational until the 2050s. Beyond the US, allied operators include Australia, India, Greece, and Spain.
