Fincantieri Group, via its subsidiary e-phors, has signed an agreement with the Italian Navy to strengthen the cyber resilience of its naval platforms. Under the program, vessels will be equipped with an integrated cyber protection solution designed to monitor, detect, and counter threats targeting onboard Ship Management System (SMS) networks, enhancing both platform security and mission assurance.

E-phors’ cyber technologies are purpose-built for the digital environments of military vessels, giving crews advanced tools to support tactical decision-making during cyber incidents. The integration adds a new defensive layer and forms part of the Italian Navy’s broader cyber-strengthening initiative, which has already been implemented on Bergamini-class frigates.

Fincantieri continues to broaden its cooperation with the Italian Navy in support of fleet modernization and enhanced operational capability. Earlier this month, the company launched the Navy’s new hydro-oceanographic vessel Quirinale at the Riva Trigoso shipyard, a platform designed for mapping and scientific monitoring in support of the Italian Hydrographic Institute.

In December 2025, Fincantieri also announced plans to deliver a new-generation supply vessel optimized for high operational versatility, including underwater missions, developed through its Underwater Technology Hub. Additionally, earlier in 2025, the company secured a contract to build two additional Pattugliatore Polivalente d’Altura (PPA) multipurpose combat ships. Managed by the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR), the program names Fincantieri as lead contractor with Leonardo as partner, with deliveries in the “light plus” configuration scheduled for 2029 and 2030.
