Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $999 million contract by the U.S. Department of Defense to support the production and maintenance of the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM) and the Long-Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM).
The agreement includes upgrades, integration, manufacturing, and logistics support for all missile variants currently in the U.S. Air Force’s inventory.
Work will be conducted in Orlando, Florida, with completion scheduled for July 17, 2030.
JASSM is a long-range, air-launched cruise missile designed for high-precision strikes, equipped with a 450-kilogram (1,000-pound) penetrating warhead. It is capable of engaging both fixed and mobile targets at distances exceeding 500 nautical miles (925 kilometers).
The missile is deployed on several platforms, including the F-15E, F-16, F/A-18, and F-35. Its AGM-158B-2 variant includes a modern missile control unit and the latest GPS Anti-Jam Receiver, enabling continued hardware and software enhancements.
