Ukrainian startup Trypillian, co-founded with British partners, has secured $5 million to push forward the Trypillian SSG, an advanced strike drone designed to counter heavily defended airspace. The announcement was made by Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, who emphasized the drone’s independence from GPS navigation, giving it resilience against electronic warfare. Trypillian, established by military veterans in 2024, quickly entered Diia City, Ukraine’s digital business ecosystem that provides tax incentives, strong IP rights, and workforce protections. The startup’s SSG drone is seen as a direct answer to Russia’s layered air defense systems, capable of operating autonomously to strike key targets at long ranges. This project fits into Ukraine’s broader defense modernization strategy, which includes partnerships with European and U.S. organizations to accelerate the development of AI-driven and unmanned technologies. Recent initiatives, such as AI startup accelerators and innovation funds, provide an ecosystem in which firms like Trypillian can thrive. The investment strengthens Ukraine’s ability to sustain innovative warfare capabilities while building a resilient domestic defense industry.
