Poland’s arms procurement agency has signed a 2-billion złoty ($550 million) contract with local defense company Wojskowe Zakłady Łączności Nr 1 to supply mobile communication nodes for Phase II of the Wisła air and missile defense program.

These nodes are essential for the multi-layered system, offering secure, interference-resistant, encrypted communications at tactical and operational levels. The contract includes 56 nodes, along with logistics and training support, with deliveries planned between 2027 and 2030.

Phase I of the Wisła program, signed in 2018, introduced two Patriot batteries with PAC-3 MSE interceptors and the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System (IBCS), achieving initial operational capability in December 2024. Phase II, signed in 2023, adds six more Patriot batteries integrated with IBCS and introduces the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor, a Gallium Nitride-powered active electronically scanned array radar capable of full 360-degree tracking. The new radar is designed to counter advanced ballistic and hypersonic threats, with low-rate initial production starting in early 2025 and full-rate production expected by 2028.
