ARTEC, a joint venture between KNDS Deutschland and Rheinmetall, has secured a contract to supply 69 additional Boxer RCT30 infantry fighting vehicles to the German and Dutch armed forces. The optional procurement was signed through the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation, following the two countries’ combined acquisition of 222 vehicles in 2025.
Germany will receive 35 of the newly ordered vehicles, adding to its previous order of 150 Boxer RCT30s. The Royal Netherlands Army will receive the remaining 34 vehicles, increasing its fleet of wheeled infantry fighting vehicles to 106.
Boxer RCT30
Developed by KNDS, the Boxer RCT30 is set to become a key platform for Germany’s new “Medium Forces,” which are intended to provide highly mobile, wheeled combat formations positioned between heavy armored units and light infantry. The vehicle combines the established Boxer platform, already operated by seven nations, with the 30 mm turret developed for the Puma infantry fighting vehicle, enabling it to engage moving targets while on the move.
Known as “Schakal” in German service, the vehicle also features capabilities to counter drones and aircraft. Its integrated MELLS anti-tank guided missile system allows it to engage heavily armored threats, including main battle tanks. With capacity for six dismounted soldiers, the Schakal is planned to serve as the primary weapon system for mechanized infantry units within the Medium Forces.
