V2X Wins $87 Million Contract to Modernize US Navy Super Hornet Pylons

Virginia-based V2X has secured an $87 million contract to overhaul SUU-79 pylons installed on US Navy F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler aircraft.

The SUU-79 serves as a critical underwing component, allowing F/A-18 aircraft to carry and release weapons and other external stores. V2X has provided sustainment support for US Navy F/A-18 systems, including pylons, since the aircraft entered service in the 1980s.

Under the latest contract, V2X will overhaul and upgrade the pylons using advanced repair methods and lifecycle sustainment technologies. The work is intended to extend the operational service life of the components while maintaining the readiness of US naval aviation fleets.

All contract activities will be carried out in Indianapolis, Indiana, with the program scheduled for completion by January 2030.
