Rheinmetall has received a contract worth more than 500 million euros ($579.7 million) to deliver 149 mobile rescue stations to the German Armed Forces.

The order comes under a framework agreement awarded in December 2024, bringing Germany’s total procurement to 165 systems and increasing the program’s overall value to more than 600 million euros ($695.8 million). The contract also includes personnel training and options for additional vehicles.

Production is set to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with deliveries continuing through 2029 as the German military replaces aging equipment. Rheinmetall’s Project Solutions division will oversee the program, making it the division’s largest contract to date.

Supporting the military’s Modular Medical Facilities initiative, the systems will provide scalable frontline medical capabilities. Of the 149 vehicles, 112 will feature ballistic protection, while the remaining units will use standard configurations.

The mobile stations will provide NATO Level 1 medical care, including immediate first aid and life-saving treatment for tactical units. Each system includes two expandable containers that can be rapidly deployed or packed by a four-person team, reflecting operational lessons from the war in Ukraine.

The stations can operate independently for several days using onboard generators and climate-control systems. Their modular interiors feature airliner-style rails that support one main emergency room and four additional treatment areas.
