Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has marked another significant achievement in India’s indigenous defense manufacturing sector with the delivery of ‘Mangrol,’ the third of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC) being built for the Indian Navy.
The milestone highlights India’s growing domestic shipbuilding capabilities and supports the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative by strengthening the country’s ability to design and manufacture advanced naval platforms locally.
The formal Delivery Protocol was signed by Dr. Harikrishnan S., Director (Operations) of CSL, and Commander U Sharan Kumar, Commanding Officer (Designate) of ‘Mangrol.’ The ceremony was attended by CSL Chairman and Managing Director Shri Jose VJ, Commodore Piyush Badoni, Chief Recruiting Officer of Headquarters Western Naval Command, and senior officials from CSL and the Indian Navy.
Designed and constructed entirely by CSL, ‘Mangrol’ is a specialized naval platform developed for anti-submarine warfare and surveillance missions in shallow coastal waters. The vessel features indigenous sensors and weapon systems capable of detecting, tracking, and countering underwater threats.
Its induction will strengthen the Indian Navy’s coastal surveillance capabilities, improve anti-submarine warfare preparedness, and expand its operational effectiveness in India’s strategically important littoral waters.
