Cubic Defense has been selected to provide air combat training subsystems for Lockheed Martin’s Lot 21 production of Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II fighter jets.
The follow-on agreement expands upon a November 2025 contract tied to Lockheed Martin’s F-35 training program and includes the delivery of 140 P5 Internal Subsystems (IS) units. The work will be performed by Cubic alongside principal subcontractor Leonardo DRS.
As part of the wider P5 Combat Training System (P5CTS), the P5 IS enables both fourth- and fifth-generation aircraft to conduct integrated live-flight training while safeguarding sensitive tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
The P5CTS captures, distributes, and analyzes detailed aircraft training data during exercises through a globally connected network. The system also enables forces to review mission performance in real time and post-flight, improving operational readiness and interoperability among the United States Air Force, United States Marine Corps, United States Navy, and allied partner nations.
Expanding Allied Training Capabilities
Cubic Defense specializes in advanced combat training and satellite communications technologies supporting US and allied military forces worldwide.
Its recent programs include the CATS Metrix training system used to monitor soldier performance during combat exercises in Romania, logistics and support services for the Canadian Army Weapon Effects Simulation program, and the Instrumented Live Training Area Weapons Effects System (ILT-A) developed for British military forces.
