The Slovak Armed Forces has accepted the final delivery of Patria AMV XP armored vehicles configured for medical evacuation roles under a defense procurement agreement with Finland. Signed in 2022, the government-to-government contract covers 10 ambulance variants, in addition to 60 infantry fighting vehicles and six command post platforms. Valued at $447 million, the package includes technology transfer measures aimed at strengthening Slovakia’s domestic defense industry and manufacturing capabilities. The agreement also provides ammunition, infrastructure support, and logistics services.
The Patria AMV XP is an 8×8 armored vehicle measuring 9 meters in length and weighing 32,000 kilograms, with a payload capacity of 15,000 kilograms. Its modular hull is designed to withstand mines, ballistic threats, and improvised explosive devices, while supporting the integration of remotely operated weapon systems. Powered by a 600-horsepower diesel engine and an optional auxiliary generator, the vehicle can achieve speeds exceeding 100 km/h and has a maximum range of 1,000 kilometers.
