The United States Marine Corps has awarded Polaris Government and Defense a delivery order for more than 70 MRZR Alpha Ultra-Light Tactical Vehicles (ULTVs), including the service’s first procurement of the new 5kW exportable-power configuration.
The order is being executed under a five-year, $98 million indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, enabling the Marine Corps to procure vehicles incrementally based on operational needs. The agreement also includes continued engineering, sustainment, and logistics support services provided by Polaris.
More than half of the vehicles ordered will feature the new 5kW exportable-power capability, while the remainder will be equipped with the standard 1kW configuration. All vehicles will be delivered in a four-seat, green tactical configuration.
The introduction of the 5kW exportable-power variant addresses the growing energy requirements of modern battlefield systems, including tactical edge computing platforms and air defense assets. The system can provide 24-volt power while stationary or on the move, enabling support for external equipment such as forward operating tactical grids, which play a critical role in expeditionary and littoral operations in contested environments.
Importantly, the enhanced power capability does not compromise the vehicle’s primary mission functions. The platform retains the ability to transport two litters and essential mission equipment while eliminating the need for separate power generators and freeing up valuable cargo capacity.
The procurement package also includes several accessories currently used by the Marine Corps on MRZR Alpha platforms. These include a reversible roof kit with dual camouflage patterns, a road march package featuring enhanced lighting and mirrors for improved situational awareness, and a modular cargo management system equipped with side rails, a tailgate, and integrated aircraft rails for securing equipment and casualty evacuation litters. Additional equipment includes a roll-cage-mounted fire extinguisher and a dedicated towbar storage mount.
The MRZR Alpha represents Polaris’ most advanced ultra-light tactical vehicle, designed to support expeditionary operations through its high payload capacity, off-road mobility, and compatibility with tactical air transport. More than 500 MRZR Alpha ULTVs are currently in service with the Marine Corps, supporting missions ranging from logistics and medical evacuation to infantry maneuver, aircraft refueling, and counter-drone operations.
Available in both 1kW and 5kW power configurations, the platform features a three-port fused connector that enables simultaneous onboard and external power distribution during both stationary and mobile operations. The vehicle offers a payload capacity of 2,000 pounds, an operational range of 225 miles, seating for four personnel, and 12 inches of ground clearance supported by 32-inch tires for superior off-road performance.
