Rheinmetall has secured new infantry ammunition contracts with Estonia and Lithuania, totaling €33 million ($38 million) in value.

Estonia Agreement
Estonia signed a framework deal worth approximately €17 million ($19 million) for the delivery of hand grenades, including splinter types scheduled for 2026–2027, and offensive variants expected between 2026 and 2029.

Lithuania Procurement
Lithuania’s share covers the purchase of tens of thousands of 40×46mm high-explosive fragmentation rounds, with a budget allocation of €16 million ($18 million). Deliveries are scheduled for 2026–2027.

Rheinmetall Ammunition Portfolio
The company manufactures a comprehensive line of 40mm grenades and launcher systems used across NATO, including:

40×46mm low-velocity (76 m/s, ~400m range)

40×46mm medium-velocity (100 m/s, ~900m range)

40×53mm high-velocity (130 m/s, ~2,000m range) — used in automatic grenade launchers

Regional Defense Buildup
Both Estonia and Lithuania are ramping up defense investments amid heightened tensions with Russia.

Estonia will raise defense spending to 5% of GDP starting in 2026.

Lithuania plans to allocate up to 6% of GDP annually between 2026 and 2030.
