Poland is preparing to deliver up to nine MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, slightly fewer than the ten originally expected, pending resolution of technical and logistical issues. The transfer, already approved at the government level, will proceed once aircraft condition, maintenance plans, and coordination with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense are finalized.
Polish Secretary of State Paweł Zalewski confirmed that the initial batch will include fewer than ten jets and emphasized that remaining discussions are technical rather than political. The transfer is part of Poland’s ongoing support to Kyiv while aligning with its own air force modernization, which includes phasing out the MiG-29 fleet in favor of FA-50s and future F-35s.
