Britain’s Ministry of Defence has allocated £12 million to Amentum UK to support the development of a domestic hypersonic missile program aimed at delivering a Mach 5-plus strike capability.
The contract covers engineering design and a demonstrator flight test that could evolve into a full prototype missile capable of surviving extreme heat and aerodynamic pressures.
Amentum will partner with Ebeni and Synthetik Applied Technologies UK Ltd within a unified Team Hypersonics (UK) structure, contributing to London’s wider strategy to deploy hypersonic weapons before 2030.
