Turkey has finalized an agreement to export two armored, armed multi-role patrol boats to a Southeast Asian nation, marking the first time this class of Turkish naval platform will be delivered to the region.
The contract is a joint effort between Bay Galata and Kraken Marine Industries, which will supply the vessels under a collaborative business framework.
The sale contributes to Ankara’s expanding foreign military exports, which have exceeded $10 billion across air, land, and maritime systems. Turkish shipbuilders, in particular, have strengthened their global presence through exports of corvettes, patrol craft, autonomous platforms, and naval combat systems.
Bay Galata’s portfolio includes the TUZOQ counter-drone system, drone-hunting munitions, surveillance and targeting technologies, and armored personnel carriers. Kraken Marine Industries specializes in naval engineering, integrated marine technologies, and high-speed military boats such as the K3 Scout, K4 Manta, and K5 Kraken platforms.
Strengthening Production and Market Presence
Turkish officials say the agreement underscores the competitiveness of domestically developed systems, offering cost-effective solutions along with training packages, sustainment services, and potential local production incentives in a market traditionally dominated by European and US suppliers.
The deal is also seen as an entry point for expanded naval exports throughout Southeast Asia, where increasing concerns over piracy, trafficking, and illegal fishing are driving demand for enhanced maritime security capabilities.
