The United States Air Force has officially designated Leidos’ Small Cruise Missile as the AGM-190A, confirming its status as an operational stand-off strike weapon.
Also referred to as “Black Arrow,” the 200-pound (91-kilogram) missile is engineered to provide affordable, long-range precision strike capability. It incorporates modular hardware and open-architecture software, enabling rapid adaptation to evolving mission requirements.
Powered by a Pratt & Whitney TJ150-7 turbojet engine, the AGM-190A can reach speeds of Mach 0.8 (613 mph/988 km/h) and operate at altitudes up to 30,000 feet (9,144 meters).
Leidos previously highlighted that development of the missile builds on its experience with compact glide munitions such as the GBU-69, alongside advanced manufacturing techniques including 3D printing and AI-driven design optimization.
The designation follows a successful test launch from a C-130 aircraft, during which the missile demonstrated a stand-off range exceeding 400 nautical miles (460 miles/741 kilometers).
