Pratt & Whitney, a business unit of RTX, has been awarded a contract to supply TJ150 turbojet engines for the Black Arrow missile developed by Leidos Dynetics.

The agreement follows the US Air Force’s designation of the small cruise missile as the AGM-190A, formally recognizing it as an operational stand-off weapon.

The TJ150 engine features a compact design that can be produced quickly using advanced 3D printing technologies while maintaining operational performance. It generates more than 150 pounds (68 kilograms) of thrust, allowing integration with weapons systems and autonomous platforms that require high-altitude capability.

Installed in the Black Arrow missile, the engine supports speeds of up to Mach 0.8—approximately 613 miles (988 kilometers) per hour—and operational altitudes of 30,000 feet (9,144 meters).

Pratt & Whitney said the TJ150 engine family is currently used by around 2,700 customers worldwide. The collaboration between Leidos and Pratt & Whitney on the Black Arrow program began in June 2025, when the companies first partnered to supply the engines for the missile’s development.
