The US Army continues to modernize its tactical reconnaissance capabilities after awarding AeroVironment a $117.3 million contract to manufacture 82 additional P550 eVTOL unmanned aircraft. The new systems will strengthen battalion reconnaissance units by providing commanders with improved aerial surveillance, intelligence collection, and target identification capabilities during complex military operations. The award marks the platform’s initial full-rate production contract, highlighting the Army’s confidence in the aircraft following successful testing, previous procurement rounds, and early operational deployments.
