Norway has placed an order for 20 Patria 6×6 armored vehicles under the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program.
The vehicles will be configured for command-and-control (C2) missions and equipped with Protector RS4 remote weapon stations. The agreement also includes support services, training, and spare parts, with deliveries set to begin in 2026. Norway also retains options to acquire an additional 40 C2 vehicle variants and associated RS4 remote weapon stations.
Norway Joins the CAVS Program
The procurement follows a framework agreement signed between Norway and Patria in May, paving the way for the serial acquisition of CAVS vehicles.
Norway officially joined the multinational CAVS initiative in 2025 as its seventh participating country. Established in 2020, the program aims to develop and procure a common, modern 6×6 armored vehicle platform based on Patria’s proven 6×6 design.
The participating nations include Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, and the UK. CAVS vehicles have already been delivered to Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Denmark, and Germany, while the platform is also in operational use in Ukraine.
Common Armoured Vehicle System
Patria’s CAVS platform is based on the company’s 6×6 multirole armored personnel carrier and is designed for an operational service life of up to 30 years.
Measuring approximately 8 meters (26 feet) in length and weighing up to 20 tons, depending on the configuration, the vehicle can accommodate a crew of three and carry up to 10 personnel.
Powered by a 394-horsepower Scania diesel engine, the Patria 6×6 can reach speeds of up to 100 kilometers (62 miles) per hour and offers an operational range of up to 700 kilometers (435 miles).
