The US Army has chosen Edge Autonomy’s VXE30 Stalker uncrewed aircraft system for the prototype phase of its Long Range Reconnaissance (LRR) program. The initiative seeks a highly portable platform capable of fulfilling reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition missions in all weather conditions. It is intended to expand the Army’s current reconnaissance fleet, which includes AeroVironment’s RQ-11 Raven hand-launched drone. Under the agreement, the Redwire Corporation subsidiary will supply the VXE30 equipped with advanced sensors, secure communications, autonomous navigation capabilities, and modular payloads tailored for specific missions. Built for extended intelligence-gathering in contested environments, the system will undergo Army evaluation in the months ahead.
