Anduril and Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A. (PGZ) have announced plans to establish a production facility for the surface-launched Barracuda-500M (SLB-500M) cruise missile in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
The initiative follows a newly signed cooperation agreement that expands on a memorandum of understanding reached in October 2025 between the US defense company and the Polish state-owned defense group.
Production of the SLB-500M for the Polish Armed Forces will be managed by PGZ subsidiary WZL-2 at its Bydgoszcz facilities. The city, often referred to as the “NATO Capital of Poland,” hosts several key alliance installations, including the Joint Force Training Centre.
The agreement also outlines plans to gradually localize the missile’s supply chain, with the goal of making the Polish-produced Barracuda a predominantly European-made, SAFE-compliant system.
PGZ Management Board President Adam Leszkiewicz stated that the partnership aims to rapidly manufacture and deliver several thousand affordable, technologically advanced autonomous long-range cruise missiles.
The SLB-500M carries a 100-pound (45-kilogram) warhead designed to engage a broad range of land and maritime targets. It has a range exceeding 500 nautical miles (926 kilometers/575 miles). Introduced as part of Anduril’s Barracuda-M family in September 2024, the missile is designed for high-volume production at a significantly lower cost than comparable systems. In May, the Pentagon awarded Anduril a contract to supply at least 3,000 complete SLB-500M systems over the next three years.
