MBDA and Safran Electronics have achieved a major milestone in the THUNDART rocket program, advancing the system from concept development to live demonstration in just 18 months.
The trial, conducted at the Île du Levant test range in France, confirmed the rocket’s overall architecture and structural robustness, with both companies stating that the system exceeded initial performance expectations.
The propulsion system was supplied by Roxel, an MBDA subsidiary, while Safran integrated its AASM modular air-to-ground guidance kit to improve the rocket’s flexibility across a range of operational missions.
