Greece has entered into a new agreement with Shield AI to expand the Hellenic Army’s V-BAT unmanned aerial vehicle fleet, strengthening the country’s maritime surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities. Already employed for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, the VTOL drone system provides persistent situational awareness in areas where traditional manned platforms may face operational constraints.
The long-term partnership also includes plans for Shield AI to establish a permanent presence in Athens, enhancing support for Greek defense requirements while fostering closer collaboration with regional allies and industry partners. The expanded V-BAT fleet is expected to play a key role in monitoring maritime zones and improving operational coverage across Greece’s areas of strategic interest.
