The Indian Army has moved closer to inducting the indigenously developed UGRAM battle rifle after the weapon successfully completed a series of critical evaluations.

The rifle passed General Staff Qualitative Requirement (GSQR) trials, Ministry of Home Affairs Board assessments, and endurance tests conducted under extreme climatic conditions, clearing important milestones toward potential operational deployment.

Designed to fire NATO-standard 7.62×51mm ammunition, the UGRAM combines enhanced range and stopping power with a gas-operated, rotating-bolt mechanism for reliable battlefield performance.
