Australian defense technology company DroneShield is developing a compact handheld radio-frequency (RF) intelligence system designed to provide battlefield operators with multiple signal-detection capabilities through a single device.
Known as RfRecon, the system is designed to detect, identify, locate, and assess RF signals in operational environments. Its capabilities include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Remote ID detection, ship and aircraft identification, integrated Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) functionality, and hardware-based security features.
At the system’s core is a combination of ultra-wideband RF coverage, direction-finding technology, and signal intelligence capabilities. An open architecture and standardized data formats are also intended to enable RfRecon to integrate with existing military and security networks.
By consolidating several RF intelligence functions into a portable platform, RfRecon is designed to provide operators with greater situational awareness and improve their ability to monitor and assess signals in dynamic battlefield environments.
