General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. (GA-ASI) is enhancing the strike reach of its MQ-9B unmanned aircraft, positioning them for longer-range air and maritime missions.
The firm is reportedly considering integrating Lockheed Martin’s Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM) and Long-Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) onto both the SkyGuardian and SeaGuardian versions of the platform.
The JASSM has a range exceeding 370 kilometers (230 miles), while the LRASM is believed to offer a comparable stand-off distance, significantly expanding the MQ-9B’s offensive envelope.
