Romania has awarded Iveco Defence Vehicles (IDV) a contract to deliver a third batch of 860 military tactical trucks for the Romanian Armed Forces.
The procurement forms part of a 2019 framework agreement covering the delivery of 2,900 high-mobility trucks to modernize the country’s military logistics fleet. Under the program, 942 vehicles were supplied in the first phase, while 1,107 trucks were delivered during the second phase between 2023 and 2026. The third batch is scheduled for delivery over the next three years.
High-Mobility Truck Fleet
The trucks included in the framework contract come in four configurations: 4×4, 6×6, 8×8, and 8×8 prime mover variants. These platforms are further divided into 16 operational variants, including cargo carriers, armored troop transport vehicles, hook-lift and load-handling systems, recovery vehicles, tank transporters, command posts, ambulance units, and other specialized logistics vehicles.
Around one-third of the trucks feature armored cabs for enhanced crew protection.
The vehicles are equipped with central tire inflation systems, blackout lighting, self-recovery winches, and tactical axles, enabling improved off-road mobility, strong fording capability, and compatibility with Lockheed C-130 Hercules air transport for rapid deployment across various military missions.
