Kopin Corporation is consolidating OLED microdisplay production at its headquarters in Westborough, Massachusetts, by bringing the entire manufacturing process in-house.
The transition follows the company’s acquisition of advanced OLED deposition equipment and associated production systems, allowing Kopin to eliminate its previous dependence on external fabrication partners.
The decision comes amid growing demand from defense customers for more secure and reliable supply chains, along with faster delivery timelines for components used in FPV drones, thermal weapon sights, and other mission-critical soldier systems.
OLED microdisplays are increasingly valued in defense applications due to their compact size, high-resolution imaging capabilities, and low power consumption.
